We know it has a garden, because that's where Gavin gets sent to smoke. Given Tim's love of cooking, I'd imagine he's got quite a nice kitchen sorted out.

I wonder what their neighbours are like...

yup, basement and ground floor flats have gardens (or can have, anyway). I have seen 1st floor flats with gardens too (you have a set of steps that leads down to the garden, which is normally fenced off from the bit of garden that belongs to the ground floor).

As Gavin told Helen that Tim made him smoke outside in the garden in S2, then either Tim started smoking, or the writers forgot canon.

At least she only caught them smoking in the room.

I have *always* had a problem with that scene! Now, i can believe that Tim might sit with Gav and Gav might have a smoke, but WHY would you answer the door in a suspicious 'who's that' type way with the packet of fags in your hand?? Surely a. Tim shouldn't be holding them and b. he'd pass them over to Gav before going to the door. (I can believe that Gav would be hastily stubbing out his ciggy though)

I do like the fact that Julie knows where they are and knows she should knock though

ahaha... yeah. Who knows what they might have been up to though.
But yeah... i think t hat WHOLE smoking thing is really ridiculous. I think they only made it so Gavin's a smoker so that Mrs Brittas would be able to have someone to talk to about it, and then burn the handbag. It seemed so out of character anyway for some reason. (though, if he were a smoker, Tim's reaction of showing him pictures of lungs would be in character) And then they were like 'oh wait, he's a smoker, we can use that so that it turns into a sexual innuendo with Linda!!!'

I dunno, the whole 'gavin's a smoker' thing just seemed... false, a plot device. And then they just add that scene in... but it makes me think they REALLY wanted to be implying they were having sex, then chickened out and made it so they were doing something *else* 'naughty'.

something else naughty. Yep with the ciggy packets as cover, but the smoke in the background, AND they got dressed very quickly!!!

what'd the smoke in the background imply? I know I thought it was way too much smoke for like, one or two cigarettes. I don't know what room they were in. I can't read the sign.

I think that is steam from the sauna not smoke but I could mistaken
