Hehe, I sat and looked at it for ages, and then reaslised, "Oh, I know why I recognise it!". I'm verrrry slow some days. Ross Noble's a comedian, and he's really funny. Geordie, methinks, yes? He's my second favourite, after Mr. Paul Merton. Oh HIM!!! I know who you mean now!!! I just LOVE his accent!!!

Hope you start feeling better soon!

I've just... Oh gosh. This is probably already known, but I just kind of worked something out, if you can call it that. There's the RD joke in Marooned, where Lister is going to burn one of Rimmer's books, and he pulls out 'Biggles Learns to Fly'. I just noticed the coinsidence. That's obsessive behaviour.

There are so many Brittas/Red Dwarf crossovers it's stupid.
Like the Salvation Army gag. Brittas worked for them. So did Rimmer. For a very short time. So did Rimmer. There were suicides on that Sunday. Same as Rimmer. They were wrong numbers. Same with Rimmer...
*could go on forever*

Greetings to all, i'm sure in the future i'll do more posts, you certainly seem a very accepting group of people with shared interests! Was just wondering, the episode from series 6 (bad me for forgetting the title) where Helen desperately *wants* Brittas, right there and then...in his office (after the incident with her fellow patient at the hospital). Wait a minute, it's got to be the first episode of series 6 - though i don't know all the episodes by name yet (shame overload). Anyway, my point: Wonder if that scene, where she gets him on the desk and on the sofa, was difficult for Chris and Pippa to do? Chris in particular if you catch my drift....? Also, hands up all those who'd give their buck teeth to take Pippa's place??!!! Something to think about.... Susie xXx

Not one to be puerile; but I think it cuts half way through for 'difficult reasons'.
You can see after she shoves him on the couch and julie or...linda pop in the scene has been cut in half.
I would KILL to do that scene...but I don't think Chris and Pippa are very well suited. They probably thought it was just a laugh. Coz' you can't help but laugh at Pippa. She's so lanky and funny.
Now; if that scene was Julia instead of Pippa I think we would have had some problems.
What's bloody sweet about that scene is when Brittas takes his funny turn and she kisses and strokes his forehead.
I think that would have been a better part of the scene to do.

You know i'm going to have to re-watch that scene in detail now!!! But yes, i know what you mean about Pippa and Chris...also, in response to another comment from someone, about the Brittas/Laura thing being more in the actors' performance than the script, i really agree. I finished reading the "Sharing the Dream" book last night, and it just seemed all the more apparent that - scriptwise - Brittas thinks Laura likes him, but apart from objecting to MTF III and observing she is fairly attractive, there isn't really much to suggest he likes her back. But when you watch them it's blatant. As an actor myself, i'm all the more convinced - for words really are only the starting point and you can infer SO many different things by the delivery, pace, tone, eye contact etc. etc..... Sorry, rambling - you all know about all that stuff anyway. It just reminded me just HOW important the actor is in portrAying things about the character. On a similar note, when Laura kisses Brittas in his fantasy, he is conveniently sitting down on a chair facing slightly away from the camera.... P.S. If you see it you should all buy the book - it's not got much new stuff, lots of rehashing of the scripts, but it's still fab. X

I've got the book. *grins*
Ooh - another actor. (well, techically I'm not one yet, but will be training to be one then doing a post-grad musical theatre)
Sounds like I'm gonna like you, Susie!
I again watched 'Mr Brittas Changes Trains' and found another convenient cut - watch as Laura goes to kiss Brittas on her hasty way out...the mid-shot shows her hand distinctively resting on his leg, but the kiss close up has the same arm on his shoulder.
And the UXB thing, Susie...COMPLETELY see what you mean.
Same instance again in 'Playing with Fire'. Call me an obssessive, but Brittas has a rather conveniently placed leaflet when he watches Laura in the gym.
;D

Likewise! I'm i suppose what you would call a resting actor, transitioning from amateur to proffesional status...mighty difficult but hey we have to give these things a try don't we? I again watched 'Mr Brittas Changes Trains' and found another convenient cut - watch as Laura goes to kiss Brittas on her hasty way out...the mid-shot shows her hand distinctively resting on his leg, but the kiss close up has the same arm on his shoulder. Gonna have to re-watch those bits too - this is so cool, finding a place where otehr people find the same things interesting, but also can spur you on to discover more...extrrrrrraooooordinary!! ;D (Not quite sure if that's how you would spell it, but you get the gist! ) ;D

What a fab thread this is! No wonder it's had so many replies. Re-watched most of the clips we've all been discussing, bar the series 6 Helen/Gordon grapple! (which i will be watching again, mark my words). It's one of those things, like looking for continuity errors in movies, that you can't help but start looking for and noticing more and more frequently. Noticed few more instances, but what i can remember may be not very helpful - i really should write these things down AS I notice them. I noticed when watching series 5 again that Laura seems to touch Brittas at every opportunity, not in a 'dodgy' way or anything, just physical contact. Like there was one incident where she rests her hand on his shoulder, i think it was either during a staff meeting or when they were alone in his office. Warned you about the memory issues!! Chris' face when Laura says she can't take his job, as she's leaving and going to have a baby, is amazing - he looks genuinely gutted. Also, after re-watching UXB I concur with the suggestion that it's a *proper* kiss...if you look closely you can tell, but they really don't let it last long enough....maybe that's just me. Very sweet how his hand moves up her back as they're kissing though. The bit you mentioned in 'Shall We Dance' Jenn I looked at very carefully, and she is totally checking him out!! Very subtle but if you just focus on her, like you said, it is clear. Oh, in a similar vein, when Brittas is giving his briefing in one episode he is constantly bent over with his hands resting on the desk as opposed to standing upright... After Helen has got on board the Belgium train (and rushed off to cash the living allowance cheque), Laura enters and Brittas immediately crosses his leg. Just a coincidence or does Laura's presence elicit a non-verbal response??! Enough said, this is a family friendly place after all...at least I think it it?! If episode titles or more details come back to me will let you know - sorry for any frustration...happy hunting i guess! Susie X
