Much though I miss seeing Russell in his sexy shorts I have to admit that he looks wonderful in his chef’s outfit. If I didn’t fancy him before I certainly would after seeing him in the episode “Mr Brittas Falls in Love”. How could Linda lock the lovely Tim in the chicken cage?
Only one more series to go now.

I had to go all the way to Birmingham to get mine. But I wasn't disappointed!

How could Linda lock the lovely Tim in the chicken cage? Maybe she likes having pretty men under restraint? Watched it all again in two days despite having promised myself to space it out and savour it. I'm not crazy about Season 6... it's not just Penny, although I detest her utterly. Everyone seems vaguely out of character - why is Colin suddenly obsessed with marriage? - and there's little changes that annoy me. Carole's children being suddenly monsters, Gordon having super-strength but only for one episode, and the more sadistic humour seems cruder. Only Julie seems fully in-character at all times. And I wish they'd make their mind up how Linda feels about Brittas once and for all, instead of flipping her over to suit each subplot. And yes, I'm soppy, but I don't like the Tim/Gavin dynamics for most of the season. Ridiculous jealousies and misunderstandings are all very amusing, but the extended not getting along makes me sad. Except when the writers forgot about it, that is. Such a patchy series... much prefer S7. But I comfort myself with Gavin's clipboard, because Gavin's clipboard is the cutest clipboard of all time.

Just seen series 6 and, aside from the first episode I actually didn't find it all that bad. I thought all of the episodes were entertaining with trademark Brittas craziness - perhaps a little over the top at points but I still enjoyed it. I loved the one where Tim held up the staff changing room - and Helen counselled him! ;D And even the one where Colin thought aliens had come to the leisure centre was fine (I'd heard bad reports about that one). I thought the idea of Helen accidentally selling the house was funny too - seeing furniture scattered over the centre throughout the episode (especially the dining room table and chairs by the pool) was hilarious! Overall, I really enjoyed this series. It may even be my favourite (though it has strong competition with every other series... )

I love all the series of Brittas and even though I can see why some people have quite varied opinions on Series 6 in particular, I really enjoyed it myself as well.
The series' highlights for me include seeing Brittas' doppelganger (Chris in a dual role was always to be a brilliant idea!), Helen losing the house and moving the household items into the leisure centre, the staff photograph and Colin thinking everyone has been taken over! It is a bizarre series but just as enjoyable as the others.
Yes, Penny is a bit of a letdown. In my opinion, she was better off being hated by Brittas than being a potential love interest to him -- to fill Laura's "shoes" in that department. I think the fans would have been even more irritated by her if she started romancing Brittas. But then her personality may have been different, who knows?

It's tough when a series changes writers. A lot gets spread out and sometimes the consistency suffers a bit. I read somewhere that series 5 was supposed to be the end of it all, but BBC wanted more so they optioned new writers. Even though it's a bit different, it's still good Brittas.

That's true. When the original writers left, they were planning on ending Brittas by killing him off (hence the water tank). But the public demand for more Brittas was pretty huge so they planned it for two more series with a number of different writers brought in.
What I've never really understood is if they were planning on killing Brittas, how come they wrote it that he came back from Heaven and knocked on the coffin? Obviously, that means he wasn't dead after all so they (Fegen and Norriss) must have left the door open for more Brittas in the future anyway? Unless they just changed the writing at the last minute, because of the public.
I'll never complain; the more Brittas the merrier! Series 6 & 7 were still very enjoyable for me.
