And No, this isn't about the actual location used to shoot.
My husband says there's this one centre we've been to which reminds him of the centre of the show. This is Queen's Leisure Centre in Derby, England because they have pictures of the staff by the reception and the posters are lined up with matching pins.
Are there any centres any of you have been to which remind of Whitbury in the show, and what aspects in particular stand out as 'Brittas Empire'?

there's one around here that makes me laugh... it looks sort of like it. well, not really, but i guess it's the attitude of the building? or maybe just that it says 'leisure centre' lol

A few years ago I used to take part in a lot of cat shows, which just so happened to take place in many leisure centres up and down the country ;D I'll have to try and remember some names, but there's definately one in Chester town centre with an interior really similiar to Whitbury, especially rooms like the excercise room in Set in Concrete with dark bricks. Round windows, bright red railings and everything

The Meadow Centre near me practically has the same exterior - colours and shapes and everything. And the uniforms are the same style and colour.

I was laughing this week because I went swimming at our aquatic centre, which has pools and a gym and so on. And there was this lifeguard who reminded me of Tim, and the lifeguards had to wear shorts. And I was thinking about Mr Brittas telling people that they're not setting a good example because they're not in the peak of physical condition (in series 3) and there were some lifeguards who definitely weren't. And then i was laughing because it was obvious their boss was making them do weird cleaning things too, like Mr Brittas did. Like, going around and emptying all the bins.

The dome in doncaster reminded me a bit about Brittas empire Yeah, as I read this thread I was thinking of the Dome. The layout there is a bit maze-like too which would tie in with Whitbury which always seemed to have myriads of corridors and staircases in it!
