I've also read a few things that pick up on Gav being taller or more dominant...whereas I always see Tim as having the more dominant personality, in a way...more likely to express an opinion, or tackle an issue at least. Tim's definitely the fiesty one, but Gavin seems to be protective... more an age thing than dominance, I'd say, whcih just goes to show how crap uke/seme actually is to describe relationships. As for fanfic terms... I agree that drabble should be exactly 100 words, but the utenadrabble community has quite long stories. I'd add a term I use all the time: saffic (SApphic FanFICtion). Same as slash, only for girls not boys, and sometimes extended to gen friendship stories. Some people use femmeslash, femslash or girlslash, but I avoid those as it treats f/f relationships as if they're a novel brand of m/m, which is just silly and vaguely offensive. "Saffic" tends to be used by women writing about female relationships rather than men writing porn about two girls getting it on until a real man arrives. Yuri and shoujo-ai can be used for the same thing in anime fandom. Generally yuri is more explicit than shoujo-ai. Edited because, believe it or not, I can't spell "Tim"

Yeah, I guess it is an age thing, as well as a personality thing, natch. Since joining this forum I've been thinking a lot about Gavin's lying - he does lie a lot, doesn't he? Despite often being protective. I know, we've mentioned this before but I'm fascinated, as always, by reading more into these characters than was ever intended. I'm trying to think of more fanfic terms...but I think they're so stuck in my brain now that I don't think of them as terms that other might not understand. Colour me geek (again). On LJ I use a lot of silly 'leetisms, that I corrupt to my heart's content...liek, omg, kthanxbai, meh. Just doing my bit to destroy correct usage of the English Language, yup. Love Elf xx

I'm glad I'm not the only one unduly fascinated by Gavin's fibbing. If there's two of us, it's a little less odd... right? But that kind of thing, obsessive playing with characterisation, is what I love about fanfic. And Gavin really seems to have a lot more complexity to mess around with than most of the other characters, even though he doesn't get all that much limelight.
Or I might just think so because I was in love with him as an impressionable kid.
Mary-Sue, did anyone define Mary-Sue? ~is too lazy to look up~ Not that TBE needs new Mary Sues, it already has Laura and Penny.
As for LJ-isms... I've been addicted to fandom_wank since way, way back in its first lj days, and it's horribly tempting to fall into f_wisms. I'm sure I even have a "gay by tentpeg" icon back in rotation somewhere.

I'm glad I'm not the only one unduly fascinated by Gavin's fibbing. If there's two of us, it's a little less odd... right? Perhaps no less odd, but so much less lonely . What got me thinking about it (again) was when Brittas is off to Europe (the ep name escapes me), and Gavin knocks that croquet ball down the corridor, knocking Colin out. Gavin lies, Tim backs him up. Aww. Still a whopping porkie which, when put with the others...just continues that big ole lying trend. OMG, me too. Well, in love with he and Tim...yup. Definitely. As for Fandom_Wank, it lives on wankily here on JournalFen: www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/Love Elf xx

Hee, I see that as proof positive that they've properly made up, Tim laying his honesty down to protect Gavin from potentially very serious consequences. Completely immoral, especially when you found out they actually nabbed some kids on whom to lay the blame, but never mind that.
The whole scene beforehand gives me a warm glow. Tim is obviously trying so hard to be sensitive about all the management stuff, and it's such a contrast to his attitude before. He seems to be feeling much more confident.

I've put the Laura/Gordon-ish ficlet I wrote for Jenn up at Skyehawke - archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=8305 . Angst warning, but I tried to keep it IC ~grin~ ~insert shameless begging for feedback~ *Not* going up at fanfiction.net because some idiot is randomly reporting my stories and having them deleted on different grounds, and apparently ff.net deletes without bothering to investigate if the claims are true. I'm not amused, and I'm giving up on the Pit of Voles altogether... especially as my first Brittas Empire fic was among those deleted. Ick, double-post. Forgive me.

*Dribble* I think we can forgive a double post, especially when you post FANFICTION, and ESCPECIALLY when it's GOOD fanfiction! And that was very good fanfiction ;D Whoo

~blush~ Thank you, Totoffle. Anyway, I wanted to tell people that www.ficwad.com seems a pretty good alternative to fanfiction.net for a self-submission archive... and that it now has a Brittas Empire section. Which we should consider it all our duties to fill up with lovely stories, right? It would be nice to have a multifandom archive in which TBE stories are easy to find instead of lost in the British Tv section.

*Dribble* I think we can forgive a double post, especially when you post FANFICTION ~grin~ I hope so, because I'm doing it again. (And thank you!) www.ficwad.com/viewstory.php?sid=1893&PHPSESSID=7857999eef3836d9ec8fff532a9bd9a9 Just a little S5 one-shot spun off a 15minuteficlet challenge -- coffee and conversation in the staff restroom. Someone mentioned a central TBE fanfic archive -- would someone pretty please point me the way?

Is there not one in semi-existence on the 'main site'? Oh - and that ficlet is amazing. I really do LOVE your portrayals of the characters. True to the original ideas, but in your brilliant, love-for-the-character-fuelled way, you make it so much more. Thank you, Kanna.

Thank you so much, both of you. New fandom, I still need reassurance I'm getting things right. Oh, and... I bring recs! Tea and Tantrums: www.fanfiction.net/s/2412088/1/Absolutely wondermous Tim/Gavin post RIP: GF. Everyone needs to go read this now. Hothouse: www.fanfiction.net/s/2347924/1Very very short for now, but looks like it will be wondermous Tim/Gavin. Who says there's nothing worthwhile on ff.net? ETA: ...and another one! Riding on the Wild Side: www.fanfiction.net/s/2356694/1/This one really does read like an episode. ~is in awe~ I don't know what is causing this sudden rush, but I love it.
