Now 'Searching' has caused me a lot of anguish.
The part she plays seems really funny; a nutter with a man complex. And there's no record of it anywhere outside the BBC website.
Gah. Oh well.

'Searching' wasn't the best comedy ever written, wasn't even the best comedy written by Carla Lane (Butterflies gets my vote for that one) but it was enjoyable. Julia's character, Chancy, got so annoyed and wound up by men that she took out her frustrations by beating them, or their possessions, up. In one of the earlier episodes you saw her parents and you could see where her anger stemmed from. Her father always talked over her mother and was putting her down constantly and her mother didn't fight back, I guess Chancy was just over compensating for her mothers situation!
I don't have the capability to do video clips but I'm capping a couple of episodes in a bit so I'll post a few here when I get the chance too.
Oh, and 'Searching' had one of the worst theme tunes ever!

Screen-capping for a not-quite episode guide thing in my lj, and these were just randomly awww.   I suppose one consolation for the Michael-thing is that she gets a baby of her own, even if its father only sees it as a way of making money. I had the feeling wanting a baby and Michael not playing along was one of the reasons she originally left. |
