I'm running a forum competition- a competition to get more new members onto the forum and also converted 'into' Brittas Empire fans. I try to advertise and 'convert' where I can but I can't do it alone, and we need to branch out. I think you can all agree that the forum is really quiet. I know the forum doesn't belong to me, but... I really want to see it grow. Hope the Admin doesn't mind.
This is how it will work- you'll go out into the internet and the real world, and advertise the forum. I'll have to trust you to be honest in many cases, but I think I can do that.
Here is the points system.
1/2 for a non visible link or a post about BE in an existing conversation This is included because though it may not include a link, it's getting people to think about them. So, you posted in a thread about it somewhere (counted because it'd bump it up to the top of the page) then tell me, and I'll give you half a point for it. You'll also get half a point if you saw a Brittas Empire fan and PMed them the link to the forum. I have to only give you half a point for this because I can't be given a link to a PM. Also you'd get half a point if you posted a link to the forum in a locked community that I can't see proof of, or, if you don't want to tell me WHERE you posted it, for your own reasons. If at a later stage another member from that locked community/forum comes and tells me that yes, you did indeed post a link there, then it'll be upped to the same status as a visible link.
To prove this, please either provide a link to the conversation in question, or if you can't provide proof, just tell me, and I'll just trust you.
1 point for each link you put up in a visible place. Visible includes 'proven' links in closed communities/forums as mentioned above. It also includes signatures on other forums, though, you'll only get a maximum of three 1 points for a signature on each individual forum. (Example: you have it in a signature on one forum, and you post 20 times. That only can count as a maximum of three showings of that link.)
To prove that you have put up a link, please provide me a link to where you linked it. (to the actual thread if it's on a forum please).
2 points for public, personal or real life recommendations of The Brittas Empire:This one will also require trust, I suppose. This is more complex conversation about The Brittas Empire, basically, a conversion attempt. It includes msn conversations, and real life posters, fliers etc, but also STARTING up threads about TBE, that are not just a link but an actual conversation. So, you recommend TBE to someone/ a forum? Tell me.
This is worth more points than the above because it requires more effort on your part than simply a link or a post.
5 points for each person you get to join. This is pretty self explanatory. PM me with the username of who you got to join.
8 points for each person you *convert* to TBE: For the purposes of this competition, to 'convert' means a new member to the forum, (or, someone who is NOT on the forum but who you can prove is a real person, not a member of the forum already, had not been a fan before) who had not heard of TBE until you told them about it, or didn't know much about it, or didn't like them before you told them about it. If they've joined, you'll get the 8 points for conversion plus the 5 points for joining. If they haven't joined, obviously you'd just get the 8 points.
10 points for each person you get to join who makes 5 'relevant' posts (ie, not just an introduction post or a post in the general part of the forum. ) To prove it, please link me to each place they've posted.
You'll also get 10 points if you get a member who hasn't posted before to post 5 relevant posts, even if you didn't bring them here.
Obviously these points will accumulate.
There'll be a small prize, but hopefully having more people here will be a reward in itself.

Obviously, I'm trusting you not to cheat.
The competition will run for only a very short time- Until the 5th of July. It is running so short because I don't want to drag it out so that you lose attention, and also I'm going away soon. But, we can do more competitions later, if you like the idea!
Do not break rules of other forums or sites. So, if they do not allow links, do NOT spam them with links. If they don't allow people to PM unsolicited links, do NOT try doing that. We don't want the forum getting a bad name.
This is just a trial competition, so there could be some mistakes or problems but lets see how it goes!
Any advertising banners are welcome to be used, or none at all if you prefer.
Only I am exempt from participating.
It's up to you to tell me what you've done and again, I have to trust you to be telling the truth. You'll have to tell me which new members are 'yours', that is your responsibility.
PM me with your links to evidence and so on, near to when you actually do it.
New members can participate too if they join in time!
Tip: Don't forget to tell people a little about TBE with the link. It can prompt people's memories, or maybe convert new fans.
Shape your 'spiel' to where you're posting! So if you're on a lj comm or something that's about say... forbidden love, tell them about Laura and Gordon. Or Helen and her boyfriends, as well as just the show in general.
