On the series 2 DVD 'Safety First' is the sixth episode, but am I alone in thinking it would be better placed before 'An Inspector Calls' and 'Set in Concrete'? Not only does it further build up the Brittas' marriage problems (what with the picnic she's planned in 'Safety First' and her plans to leave Gordon in 'An Inspector Calls') but in 'Set in Concrete' Laura says on hearing the alarm "there's not another fire, is there?" (Of course 'another fire' could just refer to any one of the catastrophes Brittas is presumbably causing even when we're not watching...)
What do you all think?

Well, I think 'Safety First' is perfect where it is as Helen had decided not to leave Gordon after all at the end of 'An Inspector Calls', I suppose because she had decided not to, she wanted to try another go at their marriage with new ideas. She obviously wanted to try a different approach if she was to be with Gordon - and that idea was ditching the pills. As for 'another fire', I presume it was happening in the background. Interesting topic of discussion though!

In my chronology, I'd see giving up the pills as a last-ditch attempt to make things work with Gordon. She was obviously still pretty upset (and it wasn't resolved) at the end of the episode, what with the deliveries of fish etc. Which, if this came before 'An Inspector Calls' would add more weight to Helen's comment "It's lots of stuff been building up" (or words to that effect) to Laura, about leaving Gordon. I suppose all this is redundant anyway, since the episodes aired in that order and there's no changing that. But when I first saw 'Safety First' I did think it seemed out of place and would've worked better my way. But you make a good case.
