yes, it's a real place, they mentioned it in one of the Carry On films i was watching the other day!
I think it's spelt differently to that though.
I think that the building collapsed, killing a bunch of staff. I think that because "someone had to dig for survivors"

Yes, it's in Hampshire, not far from Guildford.
