For all those fan fic writers out there I have made a character timeline for each major character. Each one can be found on the appropriate character forum. I have also made a episode by episode rundown to help make the timelines to make sense (you can find this on The Brittas Empire section. Just a note of warning though: If you are writing fan fic with the info I gave you I may have spelt the odd character (not the main characters) name incorrectly. I have a few problems with my hearing at the mo and it is possible that I may have heard the odd name wrongly.
Helen Brittas
Series 1
Ep 1 Helen meets new neighbour Pam (who Brittas constantly calls Pat) discusses life with husband over a bottle of Gin.
Ep 3 Helen spends day with 73 year old bed ridden Uncle Simon, comes back wearing sexy nurses uniform.
Ep 4 Helen explains to neighbour, Pam, how she and Gordon met: They met on the hard shoulder of M6 just outside Birmingham and the car broke down. Her boyfriend, Terry, was taking her to the Caravan Show. Gordon appeared carrying a set of socket spanners. Terry told her to shut up and Gordon told her women deserved better than that. Helen said she got fond of Gordon whilst visiting him in hospital whilst he was drifting in and out of a coma with his jaw wired up.
Ep5 Uncle Simon dropped Helen for a younger woman. She spends episode trying to get more pills off doctor for her depression. Doc gives her stronger pills and we’re lead to believe she slept with doc.
Series 2
Ep3 Its Helen’s birthday and so Gordon gave his wife a moped with a helmet with ‘Hi I’m Helen’ written on the front so she can make new friends in the traffic. Helen decides to leave Gordon and he waves her off giving her a tape of her favourite music for the journey. She decides she can’t leave him when he apologises for being worried due the inspection.
Ep4 Gordon tells Helen, after a chat with Laura, that if she wants to swap her moped for car he will get her a car although we see her with a moped in later episodes.
Ep6 Helen decides to try – unsuccessfully- to give up the pills. She brings a picnic to the office for her and Gordon. When her husband is called away she sends gifts of broken glass and food in envelopes to her husband as a reminder that she is still waiting for him.
Series 3
Ep4 In this episode we find a pregnant Helen explaining to Laura how she is struggling to give up the pills when pregnant whilst living under the same roof as Gordon and his brother.
Ep5 Heavily pregnant Helen goes shop lifting and turns to Brittas when she thinks she’s been caught. She’s scared she’ll go to jail and Brittas tells her not to worry as you don’t go to jail on your first offence, she then says that she’s been done 7 or 9 times for shop lifting when pregnant before. Brittas takes her to the shop to apologise.
Ep6 Helen has a fear of Brittas taking her to hospital as she wants a ‘normal’ birth and not have her twins delivered by a vet like Carol. She arranges for Laura to take her to the hospital. Brittas ends up driving her to the hospital and she gives birth to twin boys in the middle of the high street delivered by medical students.
Series 4
Ep2 It is Helen’s twin sons, Mark and Mathews christening but she manages to loose them whilst shopping for a hat. She ends up fighting with Horatio’s girlfriend, Philippa, because she called her a bad mother.
Ep3 The staff discover a picture of Helen in a lads mag. Helen finds it very difficult to let go of a picture showing her looking good.
Ep4 Helen is due to join her husband on a business meal out but is unable to go because of a frozen jaw. Brittas tries to get her hypnotised to help her relax but it does not work on her although it does send Brittas to sleep.
Ep7 Helen borrows money from petty cash to buy a dog. Brittas takes the blame for it without Helen realising and so she goes into hiding (in the dogs kennel) so she doesn’t get arrested.
Series 5
Ep1 Helen has taken some pills to help her get through an interview for songs of praise. She is attacked by an emu which steals the pills.
Ep2 Helen is distressed because she doesn’t want to move to Brussels. Laura convinces her that Brittas wouldn’t be able to cause so much damage in Brussels. She decides it might be good to move there as Brussels is near Amsterdam where they have lax drug laws.
Ep3 Whilst Brittas is in Brussels Helen is arrested for attempted murder of her son’s teacher for grading the homework that she had done for her son a ‘d’. After the charges are dropped she ends up go back to a hotel with her solicitor.
Ep4 Michael T Farrell has to lie (and then the rest of the staff have to join in with this lie) to cover up for Helen who was seen having a meal with another man.
Ep5 Helen is trying to get people to buy into a pyramid scheme so she can raise £5000. Laura realises something is amiss and when questioned further she reveals that she has had an explicit tattoo on her leg when she was drunk. Laura takes her to the tattoo shop to get it changed into a butterfly.
Ep6 Helen took a blood test for Susie and thought for a while she was pregnant. She was relived that she was not pregnant as Gordon was out of the country at a time when she was supposed to have conceived.
Ep7 Helen wants to stay in the UK at a ‘friends’ house for the next seven years. She changes her mind though when Gordon shows her their new homes, cars, extra money.
1994 Christmas Special
We find Helen in2019 still married to Brittas, still fond of an extra drink.
Series 6
Ep1 Helen escapes from the clinic where she has been receiving therapy since she discovered her husband has come back from the dead. She creeps into the centre to steal a letter before Brittas reads it, the letter is written by the wife of one of her doctors. On hearing of her husband’s bionic strength she tries to seduce him on the sofa, desk etc… Brittas discovers that Helen had spent all the life insurance money £88,000 on a new Rolls Royce and backing a horse.
Ep2 Helen sold her house to the American Air Force but didn’t mention it to her husband so she slowly brings all the household furniture into the centre. She tells Gordon that the people in their house are her relatives but really they are the people who she sold the house to. After a diplomatic incident Helen receives a phone call to say that they don’t want the house after all.
Ep3 Helen thinks she was going mad when she sees Brittas and someone who looks identical to him in the same corridor. She’s also concerned that her marriage is in need of reviving.
Ep4 Helen discovers an old husband called Harry Johnson whom she had forgotten she had married years ago before she met Gordon. She wonders whether she should go back with him instead of staying with Brittas. Her husband is killed when a sign falls on his head.
Ep5 Offended that the United Nappies Company do not want to use her children as models Helen decides the best way to get back at them is to push their shares down. She Puts laxatives in the juice and wants to phone the papers to tell them but then realises that it is the wrong thing to do. She goes back to the shop to buy all the juice. Brittas then unwittingly promises a nurse that as the centre has had too much juice delivered he’d bring it to the hospital for the children.
Ep8 Helen on the advice of her doctor decides to make a parachute jump. It is to help her face her own mortality. She said she isn’t scared of explosions, fires etc… as she’s used to them but is scared of heights after an incident on her honeymoon with Gordon. She explained they went to Croydon because Gordon wanted to look at the high diving board at Crystal Palace sports centre. After several phone calls to Brittas she makes the jump landing in the centre of the staff photo.
Series 7
Ep1 In an attempt to make enough money so that she can run the sauna solarium Helen decides that she is going to commit a burglary. She decides she’s going to steal her fur coat from a locker in the basement for the insurance money. Asking Julie to help they make it into the building only for Julie to go into labour and for Brittas to turn up trying to make a citizens arrest.
Ep2 Helen goes to an auction and buys a box of bric-a-brac for £35. She gives everyone gifts from the box, (Gordon got a cigarette case which saves his life when he is shot). Gordon tells Helen she cannot buy friends so she then returns to the centre collecting back the items she has given away.
Ep3 Helen smashes up her computer that Gordon put in her room. She gives Colin a counselling session and he then tries to commit suicide.
Ep4 Helen searches everywhere to find someone to counsel; she ends up counselling a sheep. She counsels Brittas and tells him there’s life beyond the centre so after he looses his job they plan to emigrate to Kathmandu.
Ep5 Helen takes a dream works shop. She also tries unsuccessfully to counsel the parents of the missing child.
Ep6 Helen is devastated that her dog Winston has died, seems more upset about the dog than at the death of Gavin. Brittas seems not interested in the dog’s death. Colin offers to bury the dog after her husband told her she could not bury it on council property. The dog is buried in the coffin that was supposed to have Gavin in.
Ep7Helen had previously met the journalist from Crusader Television on a Revenge Conciliation and Ten Pin Bowling Week that she went on. She was upset to find the journalist; Roger Ferguson was not after her but rather after a scoop for his programme. When he visits the centre she warns the staff that he is bad then chases him down with an axe.
Ep8 After chatting with Carol Helen realises her husband is definitely the father of Carol’s twins. Helen tells her husband that he’s the father of her twins.
1996 Christmas Special
Helen joins her husband on a group building trip to Wales because she is convinced that her husband is having an affair with Carol. She keeps looking for ways to attack Carol.
