ah, maybe. First episode... then it was 'thursday', i think 4 days away, when they opened, then... yeah, it'd be about 6 weeks, maybe slightly less, i mean i doubt all the episodes were set on wednesdays or something.
oh and by the way, it censored me. it says 'pregnant dog' when i said well, 'b.i.tchy'

Now having re-watched 'In the beginning' (ITB) I have noticed a massive error made by the writers!!!
It is set at New Year's Eve 1989 (and 2019). S1 was screened in Jan- Feb 1991.
Even without this, I could go with S1 being set in the autumn (Tim being cold and wearing 'stockings'), or at least some time in the latter half of whichever year you want. Angie leaving before christmas, but after S1 ends and Julie getting the job. Julie arranging to have a fancy dress party with her new work colleagues and friends (and rugby club gate crashers). S2 being set a few weeks later when Carole is in the early months of pregnancy and the series covering the rest of the pregnancy. It's just that the writers forgot their cannons, so to speak.
Tim claims to be having a dinner party for new year (ITB), but they were at the party (S2 if not then S7). Laura tells Barney they centre had been open a few weeks (ITB), but from timescales given in S2, part of it was set 6 months after opening (This may also explain Carole being pregnant by two different men - the bank manager at the end of S1, and Brittas in S2. obviously the S1 pregnancy was a mistake or a false alarm).
But if S7 is actually wanted to be believed - do these things matter?

Good points Zusi! The 1989 thing is unforgivable because that was by the creators, not those hacks who came in near the end! I figure Julie hosted her New Year's Eve party later because of the fact they were all locked in the centre, so maybe she had it in January. That kind of quirkiness would cover up the fact that there were two Dec 31 in the timeline! My original idea was that "In the Beginning" was set in the midst of S1 and that Julie was some kind of temp who had become familiar with the staff very quickly during Angie's absence. S1 then continued into the new year and Angie left between S1 and S2, leaving the vacancy for Julie to join permanently. It was then the 2nd festive period for the centre when Julie had her party which would mean there was a year between S1 and S2. Of course, this is even more convoluted than the actual timeline, but hey! I'll stick with yours Zusi!

I didn't think of that, the news year eve's party and Julie was there. And another thing the centre was even open in 1989, becuase it was just opening in 1991.
