I'm interested to know what the tv channels are like in England (scotland, wales and northern ireland.......don't want to leave anyone out) and in the other places we people come from. How many free to air channels have you got? here in Middle Earth we have TV1 (plays good British drama like coro street) and TV2 (is the channel for kids, teens and anyone who likes bad american sitcoms) and TV3 (which has the best news presenter in the world) and C4 (a music channel with some MTV shows) we have a number of community channels and Prime which shows only Australian shows, australian game shows and australian news SKY tv is satellite, which I don't have anymore, but it has the 2 best channels in the world History Channel and UKTV which shows things liek Blackadder marathons, Young Ones marathons, Bottom Marathons, the Bill marathons, Keeping Up Appearances marathons etc etc Brittas was last shown here about 9 years ago on TV4 (before it went all music) We don't have a lot of free tv with anything good one, which is actually a good thing....

here in Australia, we have SBS- the more obscure shows, and international stuff, the ABC- Australian stuff and BBC stuff, ABC is government run, channel 7, channel 9 and channel 10, which are the commercial channels that I almost never ever watch because they're rubbish. I mainly watch the ABC on free television. And I have basic foxtel, so i have UKTV, etc. When i watched the brittas empire it was on UKTV.

In Britain we have 5 terrestrial channels and a lot more satellite / digital / cable channels.
The Terrestrial ones are BBC 1 and 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, the latter three being independent channels and having loads of adverts and the BBC being government funded but independent of government.
In Wales they have another channel which is a Welsh Channel 4. I can't remember the welsh name for it, but the english call in S4C (as in WaleS4Cymru - Cymru being welsh for wales and pronounced Cum Ree (if I remember correctly)). Don't know as much about any individual Scottish or Irish Channels.
Besides numerous channels on Satellite, Digital and Cable which come as a package on subscription, we also have a number of Freeview Digital Channels - just buy a digital box, plug it in and tune in. I can't remember exactly how many Freeview channels there are. All I know is that there are evenings when, with all this choice, I can't find a thing to watch!!

In Britain, telly is rubbish. Too much reality TV. The best channels are the archive channels (UKTV Gold etc) in my opinion. Oh, and I like Holby City.
