Hi,
I know the actual leisure centre is in Ringwood, but where is the fictional location of Whitbury supposed to be?
In "Shall We Dance?", Helen tells us that it is 300 miles from Cornwall.
In another episode (possibly "Two Little Boys"??) a shot of a fire engine (one of the many in TBE!) says "Hampshire Fire Brigade" on it. Presumably this was because of the logistics of getting a fire engine to the Ringwood set.
Are there any other hints of WHERE Whitbury is supposed to be?

Ooo.. ooo... Yes, it must be in the south because in 'Shall We Dance' they are going to the "Southern Area Leisure Centre Staff Gala Ball".

Aaaaaaaaaaa-haaaaaaaa!!! In "The Christening", where Laura is explaining to the staff 'the route that Mrs Brittas thinks she took before catching the bus', the map on the chart IS a map of Ringwood and the surrounding area. In "We All Fall Down", the band playing outside the town hall when Linda sets off with the Olympic torch is from Dorset (I believe). It says so on their drum.
I'm suddenly worried that it doesn't say Dorset now that I've written it, so if anyone fancies watching the episode and checking . . .

That is a question I have always wanted to know.
Not being a Brit I know there is a London in the south, a Manchester in the north (where Coro st is filmed...YAY) and a Liverpool somewhere or other when the Beatles came from. So names of counties and town get thrown around is humerous gags, yet it is all foreign to me.........
