Maybe Mr. Wilson's baby was aborted or miscarried. That or a mistake... It's odd that abortion is never mentioned when Helen thinks she's pregnant again, but then I don't know what UK law was like in the 1990s. But I believed it's the same pregnancy, too much of a coincidence otherwise, and they retrofitted because they decided (rightly) it would be amusing to have Mr B father Carole's kids -- no one, after all, would remember a couple of lines overheard on the television. I also suspect that, early on, Julie just carries a lot of lines that were originally written for Angie, the same kind of thing that happened with cast changes in Blake's 7. I do like your timing explanation. It does away with the whole "Angie never existed!" thing they seemed to have going on right until "Reviewing the Situation". Maybe they just never mention the One that Escaped... His parents were on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall, which would make it very definitely post wall. I have to admit to a real weakness for the utter crappy innuendo of "But your mother came across, didn't she?" It's worthy of 'Allo 'Allo or something.

I have to admit to a real weakness for the utter crappy innuendo of "But your mother came across, didn't she?" It's worthy of 'Allo 'Allo or something. For some reason just assumed WW2. I think I'm going mad. Does make much more sense now! Speaking of 'Allo 'Allo, apparently Tim M was in one episode in series 7 (according to IMDB). Pity it's not out to check.

I know you don't like S6, but I find it most entertaining while watching with the subtitles and seeing the subtitling errors (unless that's just my DVD).
I mean Helen and Penny are talking about the benefits of meditation in relation to Gordon. Helen says 'Pills are more reliable'. Subtitles say 'Cars are more reliable'.
It's probably the best thing about it!!

It's probably the best thing about it!! Very sensible advice from Helen, really. It's not as if she hasn't tried to solve problems with cars before... And she got at least a good dinner out of it. Doesn't sound quite as much fun as watching Sailor Moon S in English with the subtitles for the Japanese version turned on, but I'll give it a shot. ~tries to imagine a version of TBE with Tim and Gavin stubbornly referred to as "cousins"~

S7 appears to have been subtitled by the same people. Gavin's friends in the SAS: 'Scandinavian Airways. They're stewards.' Subtitles: 'Scandinavian Airways. It's their school.'

Having recently managed to get my fix and watch all episodes - I think it can officially be announced that there is absolutely no continuity whatsoever!!!
In the last episode Carol states that the twins are 3 and that Julies party was 3 years 9 months previously. Brittas states that the centre has been open for 7 years to the day. This would mean that there is approx 4 years from the start of S1 to the start of S2. This slow time span of 3 years over 6 series could explain why Julie found she was pregnant in S5 and only gave birth in S7.
However, in S4 they are celebrating their 1 year anniversary, while Ben appears to be about 3 or 4 when rescued from the collapsing building by Brittas.
Still think continuity within (or lack of it) within an episode is much more amusing.

Helen's memory of Julie's New Year's Eve party is different at the end of S7 than it was in S2. Washing up and seeing King Kong out of the window assuming it was Gordon, or upstairs in a room waiting for someone who didn't turn up? Having suspicions that Gordon was the father or knowing it for certain and deciding not to say? ?? Writers!

In "Blind Devotion" Colin was brought up by his aunt because his parents died when he was young but in "The Christening" his mother lost a very important urine sample in the bakery a few years ago. Unless I've missed something, they killed her off retrospectively in the space of five episodes!

I never noticed that at all I assumed that the fumes from the toxic waste interfered with his perception of time.
The fanfic writer brave enough to take Colin's persepctive would win my admiration fast, because I suspect things are very unique from his point of view.

When i watch this show, i just try and ignore the continuity mistakes etc. And i make up my own timeline, and come up with my own ages for characters lol. I know i probably shouldn't, but it just annoys me so much i have to recreate it all in my head!
