I didn't quite know where to put this, but as it mostly concerns Gavin, I thought I'd put it here. (Poor man hasn't had any posts for a while...).
I watched the first episode of series 6 last night, & I know it's the first one with different writers & all that, but what on earth is going on? Why is Gavin fawning all over that woman (Penny?). Does he really fancy her? Tim obviously thinks so - and then Gavin tells Tim it's none of his business (huh?), he doesn't own him & he's not his mother. What?! Gavin never speaks to Tim like that (with the exception of "NOW!" but he was provoked) & what he says is so out of character. To be honest I thought Tim pushing Gavin in the pool was pretty restrained for Tim after Gavin's been so uncharacteristically nasty - surely he'd be crying for 2 solid hours before trying to throw himself off the roof..... And then, just when you get over the shock of Gavin, Tim goes & almost kisses Carole. Tim! Of all people.
What on earth is going on? And how does Penny telling Gavin to go to the ENO with Tim suddenly make everything alright between them? Is it me or has TBE suddenly gone mad? (I've seen Series 7, & whilst it's not great, it's not like this).
Someone please, PLEASE tell me the whole of series 6 isn't like this, because I hated Gavin in this episode & I've always thought he was rather sweet up until now.

Gavin's gone all management, whilst he isn't like that the whole series, I think he does try and live up to his new job role. I think it's in this series where Tim completely goes mental and locks everyone in the staff room when he finds out he's getting paid the least. Gavin, in that episode is nice to Tim, even though Tim is acting like a mad man.
I really didn't like Penny, and I think her interference with Tim and Gavin is one of the main reasons why. They were alright until she came along. Tim pushing Gavin in the pool was funny though.
I don't know how Penny telling Gavin to take Tim to the opera made everything alright between them again, but they stopped fighting anyway.

You're right - pushing Gavin in the pool was funny, although it wasn't a particularly funny episode altogether. Presumably Penny stays the whole series then? Grrrr. Didn't like her on first showing & can't imagine she'll grow on me. Does Gavin continue to look at her like a love-sick puppy (he should be looking at Tim that way - I would!). I think the only reason I like Gavin so much is because he's always on Tim's side, take that away & everything appealing about his character kind of disappears. I was pretty stunned when I saw that episode yesterday, because all the ones before this are funnier, and just somehow nicer. Not just T&G but the writing was more affectionate towards all the characters. Don't know - I might just be put out because in my world Tim & Gavin should only have eyes for each other......

I can't remember exactly but no, I don't think Gavin is like that with her the whole series. From what I remember, Penny starts getting on everyone's nerves, except Helen's. Penny is only in it for the one series.
I agree, I would look at Tim like that too. ;D
Gavin and Tim do get sort of back to normal after that episode, though I think there is still some friction about Gavin's new job because Tim doesn't like it when Gavin does everything Brittas says, but they do stick together. I can't remember if it's series 6 or series 7, but there's moments like when Tim is cooking and Gavin agrees to go and buy him some mushrooms even when Brittas is telling him to do something else. And Gavin gets very annoyed with Linda when she locks Tim in a chicken cage. Or when there's two Brittas' and there's fun banter between the two over what they'd do if they saw their own double. Oh, also, there's a cute when Gavin is taking eye drops and pushes a girl into the pool. Tim comes running to the rescue and that's quite cute.

I'm really, really glad they get back to normal, as otherwise I'm not watching any more of series 6...(throws a Tim-like strop).
I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any of the cute moments you mention, so they must be series 6 somewhere, so at least that's something to look forward to! I'm particularly looking forward to Linda locking Tim in a chicken cage, because i can't begin to imagine how that comes about. Lucky chickens. And I love it when Gavin gets all protective of Tim (or the other way round). Funnily enough I always really liked Laura simply because she shouted at Gavin when his fiance turned up, & he hadn't told Jenny or Tim about the other. Any how, I'm away for the rest of the school hols, but I'll be back to annoy you all again with long & inane posts in another week, because I'll have plenty of time to mull everything over!! Also, thank you for your replies, Timmyrocks, because it's nice to not feel as though I'm on my own here.

Oh, enjoy your hols.
Linda locking Tim in a chicken cage is funny and I think it's in the second half of series 6.
Don't worry, you're not on your own here. ;D There's lots of us, I just think everyone's a little bit busy at the minute with exams and things.

I'm back - had a great time! I have watched the rest of S6 too, & you're right some of it is actually rather good. I did enjoy Tim being locked in the chicken cage - thought that was funny, & I was very glad to see Gavin was back to normal after episode 1 (& I have to say he did look rather good in a Brittas-shiny-buttons-blazer!). I really enjoyed the body language episode - very funny & I loved Tim trying to appeal to Brittas' better nature about Gavin. Sooo sweet. And, Gavin completely redeemed himself in my eyes for making a point of telling Brittas he went on holiday with Tim. Bless.

HaHa! Yeah and Brittas was like "I'm matching and mirroring, Tim, to put you at your ease." "Well oddly enough it's not working." "Yes it is, Tim. I've done a course."
Yeah, I think Gavin did redeem himself after episode 1, but there are still some moments where I think "No! Where's the old Gavin???"
And you're right, Gavin did look nice in that blazer.
Series 7 episode 1 is cute. ;D

Series 7, episode 1? I'm going to have to go & watch that one again now, instead of working. Ah well, the sacrifices we make.....
I've just realised which episode it is - it's the bungee jump one. This is one of my least favourites from a Tim & Gavin point of view (although it is very funny & you do get Tim half naked), because - dare I say it here of all places - I don't think Russell Porter's acting is very good. When they're hanging on to the rope he's so wooden it makes me cringe. And I am a huge fan of his, so it costs me something to admit he's not always fabulous! In fact I defy anyone to match his acting when Brittas thinks he's a woman, but Tim thinks he knows he's gay, & he says something along the lines of "I haven't been trying to hide anything, Mr Brittas". It's a beautifully delivered line.
When I had the DVD of s7 form the library there's a really sweet picture of Tim & Gavin on it in the Machomax T Shirts, & my daughter who's 4 (& has seen a few episodes) pointed to the picture & asked me which one of them was a girl. When I said they're both boys she said "no, that one's a girl" pointing to Tim. Was momentarily a little freaked by this.
Anyway, I still haven't seen most of series 3, so anything good in that one?

You're right, when Brittas thinks Tim is a woman, that is one of the best scenes ever, but I didn't find anything wrong with Russell Porter's acting in series 7 episode 1. I thought it was just as good as always. The episode was very cute too.
But, everyone is entitled to their opinions lol. ;D

I don't think Russell Porter is a bad actor - I think for almost all the time he's as pretty near perfect as you can get, (& I'm not just talking about the acting). But there's just something about that scene that isn't right to me. I love him to pieces & can name a hundred fab bits of acting for that one poor moment (& it is just a moment). I have no problems with him in the rest of the episode - freezing by the pool or cooking in the sauna (got to love the woolly balaclava). And he does some of the best acting out of all the characters along the way. maybe it's just that I find it odd that he would genuinely think Gavin had friends in the SAS - surely he would know Gavin's friends by then (particularly air stewards).
Anyhow.... I'm not (& would never) say he is a bad actor, so please don't think I was.

Yeah, I think you're right about that bit. Surely Tim would know who Gavin's friends are. I still think the scene is cute though. ;D But then I'm pure fangirl. No, I didn't think you were saying he was a bad actor, I know you meant just that scene.

The scene is cute for the hug - there's not nearly enough of those in there. Although I did notice the other day that right back in series 1 when the stress man is stamping on the slide machine that behind him, Gavin briefly has his hand on Tim's knee! So - series 3 - anything good in it?

OMG DOES HE? I SOOO did not notice that and I ALWAYS watch the background stuff for Tim action. I'm gonna have to rewatch that episode now. ;D Thanks for sharing! I'll let you know if I spot it. I love series 3. ;D Are you just after Tim/Gavin stuff? Err... I actually can't think of anything off the top of my head. I'm going to have to rewatch that series too.

Yes he does!!! It's fairly fleeting, but it's definitely there - just as the man's stamping on the slide machine for the second time! (I've just put it on again to make sure it wasn't my imagination). Soo, from your Tim-in-the-background viewing, is there anything else I might have missed?
Don't know anything about series 3 - but if there's anything Tim/Gavin moments to watch out for, I'd like to know!
