How old are Carol's kids supposed to be in the last series?
Ben was a baby in the first series wasn't he? If each series was supposed to take place in a different year, (if you get my meaning), then shouldn't Ben be six or seven in the last series? Was he?
Also what about the twins? I've not seen it but am I right in thinking that they were born at the end of series 2? That would make them aged four or five in series seven wouldn't it.
But in the episode Wake Up The Lion Within when Gavin is on reception he says that he has to do Jessica's bottle. Surely a four or five year old wouldn't still be drinking out of a bottle?
Also he definetly calls the kid Jessica but I thought I read in another thread that the twins were called Tom and Emily.
Another continuity error?

The ages & dates are just all completely over the place. There's a whole thread on the dates (which I think started as trying to pin down the relative ages of Tim & Gavin). To be honest there's probably ways you could make it fit (people do for other fictional anomylies), but then you'd need to know exactly who said what regarding ages & dates in which episodes.
The twins are definitely called Tom & Emily at one point (when they're born?), maybe Jessica is just another child Carole had without noticing?
Personally I don't worry about the dates/names so much, because there's not much sense in any of them!

Nope, because the first two series were about 1 year together, and then there's a few series where there was a big gap...
Their *genders* are messed up. They were both born girls!

if i remember rightly in the christmas special (in the beginning) which was the last episode of series five where they all met on new years eve! didn't Carole say Ben was at cambridge with Laura's Barney? so that would say he is 17+

The twins' genders have always confused me - at one point, their names were Emily and Jessica. And then in another episode, I think it was said one of them was a boy called...Tom? I think. So confusing!  |

Me too.
They started off as two boys, then a boy and a girl, then two girls.
It's like the writers couldn't make up there minds what kind of twins to give her, so they tried all combinations.

In the 2019 episode, Carole says Ben is serving on a Navy submarine--she can't imagine how he can live in such a confined space!
Carole's twins are at Cambridge with Barney Farrell.

To note - according to “Curse of the Tiger Women”, Carole claims that Jessica and Emily are three now, which does feel a little late for them to still be drinking out of bottles. But yes, the timeline is all over the place - you would have thought, with the final series taking place around 1996-1997 and the twins being born around 1990-1991 that they would be 5 or 6 now.
