How cool would it be if we could contact Tim Marriott? Well....I found this (possible) email address for him I say possible but actually I'm pretty sure it must be him. What I'm wondering though, is if the email address is actually his or someone else's connected with the club. I'm thinking it probably is his as it says twm. Don't know what the w would stand for, maybe a middle name? It would be really awesome if we could contact him but I'm not sure that it would be appropriate to contact him by that email address which I'm thinking is probably his work one. I'm pretty pleased I managed to hunt it down though, lol. Currently I'm unemployed and looking for a job which means that at the moment I have quite a bit of free time on my hands. This somehow seemed like a worthwhile use of my time....... ;D

Go for it - it's an email, he can always delete it if he wants. Just be very clear what it's about in the subject/first couple of lines, and see what happens. It is definitely his address, his middle initial is W.
And if those under 12s ever play at Sussex County ground I might wander up there (it's at the top of my road). See if I can spot their coach cheering them on! ;D

I'm writing an email to him now, I have the magic of working in a school and having a school email address, so I can bypass a lot of the SPAM traps, I'll let you know what happens.
Regards
Rob

Ooo, I'm quite excited to see if you get a reply!
BTW - what does the W stand for? I'd assume William, don't know why, but there's always Walter, Wilberforce, erm, I'm out of boys W names.

Before, I send the email, I have been doing a bit of hunting on the web, and can confirm that the email address is real and I'm 99% certain it is the Tim we are looking for. I have found a photo on the college website and references to a play he wrote.
I work at a school as ICT Systems Manager and as Theatre Technical Manager, so have a sheared interest. So I would expect a reply.

I have sent the email. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL HIM UNTIL HE GETS BACK TO ME!!!
Basically in short, I have asked his permission for 'us' to email him! If he doesn't want us to contact him then we must respect what he wants.
Regards
Rob

Really? That's great, but I rarely get to check in here at the weekend, so I'll not know whether it's a good response or not. I'll have to try & make time - I'm giddier than I ought to be about this, even though there's a good chance he'll say Go Away!

Hi All,
This is what I sent Tim.
Dear Mr Marriott,
I thought I would give you the heads up!
I belong to a message board about the Brittas Empire, Someone has found your email address on the web and posted it to the board. I have asked members not to email you, until we get your permission for members to email you.
I will ask the board managers to remove the email address link if you want me to.
If you don't mind I could act as a go between from the message board to you and I would not send any more than one email a week.
Let me know what you would like me to do.
The whole board are wishing you well and wonder what you are up to now a days. They also want to know what the W stands for in your name!
I hope you didn't mind me emailing you, as ICT Systems Manager here I know how much time is spent dealing with junk emails!
Best Regards
Rob
And heres the reply!!!
Dear Rob,
Thanks so much for this - very much appreciated. Yes, I would like it removed, if possible, but then I shouldn't be too sensitive about it as it is not hard to find. Wikipedia list me as working here and the school website lists my email address!
I am, rather obviously, no longer acting! Nowadays I live a much quieter existence, for which I am very thankful. After Brittas finished, I spent three years on the road in various touring shows and pantomimes. I was never hugely comfortable with the whole showbiz thing and was not seeing much of my family, which was not good. Whilst doing a tour of the Ladykillers (in which I played Harry, the old Peter Sellers part... a fab role and great fun) we came to Eastbourne and I stayed with a friend who taught here. Shortly afterwards they made me an offer I really couldn't refuse and I have been Director of Drama here ever since. I teach to A level and run two theatres including a programme of professional shows in our main house. (details in our arts brochure which is available through the Arts page on the school website - http://www.eastbourne-college.co.uk)
I also write. A play of mine, Pete & Me, is playing The Landor Theatre in Clapham (Feb 24th-March 1st) and is coming here on March 3rd. The piece is set in Peter Cook's dressing room in 1972 and focusses on the eye-opening experience of a young stage manager who finds herself caught in there with him... please do tell people to come and see it if they would like to... I'll send you an eflyer - I hope you excuse the blatant marketing!
Many thanks for your concern and understanding in giving me the 'heads up', most thoughtful and very much appreciated. I am cc-ing to our own ICT manager for reference.
Best wishes,
Tim
The 2nd messaged says;
Ps - W is for William!
So there you have it!
I would like to think that everyone would respect Tim and not email him, this is his work address! and If everyone emails hims then he would get his ICT systems manager to change his email address. If he agreers I will pass on any questions to him.

I'm writing a reply to Tim and I hope you all will respect him and not email him. I will tell him that I will post any messages etc he wants to send to the board and will pass on any messages you all want to send to him. But I will restrict my messages to him to once a month!
Regards
Rob
