Why do Gavin and Colin not get along very well in the later series?
I've only seen series 3 and 7 in full but they have some sort of problem with each other in series 7 and in the earlier series they seem to get along fine.
I'm guessing its probably when Gavin becomes deputy manager that their attitudes towards each other change, but why?
It's not like Gavin has taken over Colin's job or been promoted over Colin is it? Because they're both deputy managers.
Or am I missing something?
They don't always seem to have a problem with each other in the later series. For example, there's that bit in Exposed where Brittas is telling them about the male model to replace Colin and Gavin tells Brittas that he can't just dump Colin like that. He was standing up for him then.
Just wondered why?

Colin is not all that happy when Gavin gets promoted to deputy manager, mostly because Gavin seems to think he's better than Colin. If my memory serves me correctly, Gavin is quite mean about Colin's management, or lack of it (if I remember rightly you see it clearly in the 360 appraisal episode, when Gavin is indignant that Colin is counted as being Gavin's superior). I also think (but this may be just me) that Gavin's a bit jealous of Colin's friendship with Tim - watch his face when Colin & Tim are being friendly! Colin may also resent Gavin's position in Brittas's estimation - Colin idolises Brittas in some episodes, yet it's Gavin who Brittas sees as his natural replacement.
As for Exposed, Gavin soon drops all support for Colin when he sees how good looking his replacement is. Annoys me no end when Gavin strokes the fake Colin's hair, but that's a whole different thread.

Yeah, I was dragging down this thread hoping to see your words of wisdom, crazyfrog, please do get back to us!
Re Colin - didn't Gavin & Tim both get a bit stressed when the other one seemed to be getting friendly with anyone else? I'm rewatching all of it for the first time in ages now, & I'm only on Series 2, so I'm just going by what I can remember!

In "Laura's Leaving", after Colin electrocuted everyone in the pool with the heater, Gavin stands up for Colin when Brittas forces him to write lines. So I agree that they didn't hate each other in the first few series. But in "Gavin Featherly RIP", Colin says he doesn't want anything to do with Gavin's "funeral" and that they didn't really see eye to eye.
