fanfic details help?

I got another fanfic planned and I have a couple of questions.

Is Tim's mum's name ever mentioned in the series? If so what is it and if not then can somebody suggest a good name for her. Isn't she German? I want a sort of German sounding name if thats where she's from, but I don't exactly know many German names and the only women's name I can think of is Helga. I don't really fancy that cos it just reminds me of 'Allo 'Allo and I'd want to randomly put "yes, Herr Flick" into the fanfic, lol.

Also Tim's mum lives in Cheshire doesn't she. Brittas was filmed at Ringwood Leisure Centre in Hampshire. So saying that Hampshire was where it was set, about how long would it take to get from Hampshire to Cheshire?

Oh and also, I know Tim and Gavin live in a flat but could they have stairs in their flat? Or are flats always only one story. I mean stairs in their individual flat, leading upstairs to a bedroom and bathroom e.t.c. Just a small detail really but I'd like to know.

I can try and answer some of your questions:

I can't remember if Tim's mum's name is ever mentioned, but she was German. There is this page here with some German first names, I like Christel myself - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:German_feminine_given_names

I have driven from Stockport (nearly Cheshire) to Southampton (definately Hampshire) before and it took me about 5 hours...but had to contend with some traffic near Birmingham on the way!

As for the flat questions, all the flats I have ever known have only had one floor, but if it were a house converted into flats I guess it could have a bedroom/bathroom on a seperate floor. Another possibility is having a bedroom on a mezzanine level.
