Yay, fanfiction YAY, Laura/Brittas ;D YAAAAAY, it's from Xylona FanFiction makes me feel all... SQUEE! (Squee meaning... Um... like... Whoo ) (EDIT: T'was originally the word 'FFiction', meaning FanFiction, but it looked like I was stuttering, so I went with FanFiction )

Ooh, can't wait.
And reminds me... I find ff.net needs a TBE section. We have enough fic. I think you need to request it when you have a fic ready to put up, though, not with ones already up, so - are you with me? I should be ready to request by tonight. ~grin~

Oh my GOD Kanna I love you In a total platonic Brittas-Love kind of way Fantastic idea. Def-certainly. *Feels need to write some Laura/Brittas squishy-ness. Nothing dirty, just squishy* Oh, and: Sorry that I make hardly any sense, but it's 3am, I'm writing a RD fic that doesn't want to be written, and I've had about 4 hours sleep. And, sorry for not posting much recently. I've been good and keeping quiet... you probably prefer it that way

Random and possibly doesn't belong here, but... Does anyone have a good idea of Tim and Gavin's respective heights? Sometimes G looks quite a lot taller than T...but I think that's just the camera angles, I don't think there can be much difference. Any help gratefully received! It might even make me write something more. Love Elf xx

No idea, chicken. But they're around the same height as Chris...so about 5'10" or 11" for Gavin....and 5'8" or 9" for Tim. So girlies....how's the Brittas/Laura going down? (so to speak)

Gavin does look quite a bit taller than Tim to me... and bulkier, although Tim has better defined muscles.
Why is it fanfic-important? ~is curious~ Not an uke/seme thing?

okay. Someone explain to me all these fanfic-terms. I've NEVER been able to understand them, and since joining LJ I need to know coz they're basic conversational terms.

Eeek, sorry, I shouldn't make obscure jokes that I know I'm probably going to be the only one to get. Bad habit of mine. Uke/seme is an anime fandom thing mostly, and I was joking about the Height Rule... um, www.aestheticism.com/visitors/reference/aestheticism.htm explains both the uke/seme thing and the Height Rule better than I could. For the record, saying I'm not a big fan of the obsession with assigning uke and seme roles in fandom is an understatement. www.subreality.com/glossary.htm is about the best fandom dictionary there is, but it's biased towards certain fandoms and has some pretty glaring omissions. Anything in particular you want defined?

Umm...anything! I know the obvious ones like slash and het. I mean the basic ones that I see you use. Anything.

trekiverse.org/FAQs/RuthsASCEMGlossary.htmlThat contains almost every term I'd ever use in a fanfic context. Don't be put off by the fact that it's Star Trek based, as fanfic began with Star Trek ;D Winner. Anyway...what it doesn't have are things like: MPreg, which is just WRONG, btw - male pregnancy (usually whilst in a slash relationship) Squick - something that makes you want to scream with the wrongness of it all, eg Harry/Hermione RPS - real person slash, where actors rather tha characters are slashed. Also seen as RPF (real person fanfic), but not that often, because people who write RPF are invariably slash writers... 'adjective!character name' - often used to descibe the way a character will be in the summary, so...maybe you could have brooding!Laura...or, whatever. Vignette - essentially, a short story. There's probably more to it than that, but frankly I don't care. Drabble - supposedly, a story of exactly 100 words in length. Well, that's the aim, anyway. Since it's so difficult to do, this rule is often ignored in favour of just writing something VERY short with no specified word limit. OTP - one true pairing. OT3 - one true threesome. ...I'll probably think of more later, but I think that's it for now

Nah, not a uke/seme thing at all. It just bugs me when people don't get basic things right in fic, and as I've been watching the eps it's sometimes hard to tell heights of people. I've also read a few things that pick up on Gav being taller or more dominant...whereas I always see Tim as having the more dominant personality, in a way...more likely to express an opinion, or tackle an issue at least. Just random ponderings, I guess. Always happy to talk about the lads As for fandom/LJ/leet terms...just ask people whenever you see something being used! No-one I know ever minds being asked to translate! Some are less-than-obvious; others fandom-related. And the online language being such a rapidly changing one, new things pop up all the time, so even old hands are left scratching their heads... Love Elf xx

It is however fine to have your male character come back with a positive pregnancy test...as long as he isn't ACTUALLY pregnant. Cos pregnancy tests are canon, yup. You just have to explain how they got mixed up. ::GASP:: Jeez, there are places I know where not doing a drabble to a perfect 100 words would get you shot! But then those are the sort of weird anal places that will dedicate a thousand emails to debating whether hyphenated words count as one or two... Personally I love drabbles cos usually I waffle on for thousands of words (can you tell?) and these dudes really test me. (And yes, mine are always exactly 100 words, cos I'm a geek) Love Elf Who won't shut up now
