nah it wasn't nintendoes yet... well, it depends when i'd be setting this, I think mainly around the earlier series is when this story is set, though it's not definite. It could have been nintendoes and playstations... but I'll have to check that. In the earlier series, it wouldn't have been. I remember what computers and computer games looked like then, and it is highly entertaining to remember!

ah early nineties? There was 'ataris' (Space invaders), Nintendo (the first ever one), Sega megadrive (sonic the hedgehog), there was weaird keyboard computers too called 'amstrads; I think, where they had a green screen and you typed in commands to play games. I never had one but my two friends did. They had games on floppy discs I think.

Amstrads were just early PCs - they worked on DOS, so if you wanted to open windows you had to type in the commands, likewise, if you wanted to play games you had to open them through DOS too. The first computer I had was an Amstrad and we had a few very basic games, which took ages to load, and you had to use arrow keys or assign your own keystroke commands.
Anyway, I was thinking today (whilst I pumped about 100 rounds of shot into the English countryside) that it's quite possible that Gavin would shoot - he comes from a reasonably posh background and his father was in the army, plus the centre (apparently - in one episode) has a rifle range. I can imagine Gavin walking about the countryside with a shotgun over one arm - even if he just shot targets/clays, rather than fluffy creatures.
Just a thought. Elf xx

^ ooo good idea there! And yeah, sega! That's right! I remember that now. And the computers... hahaha they make me laugh. But, I remember what games i played in the early 90s, but I was only little so they were mainly kids games. But I remember what the graphics looked like! And the style of the games too, where you'd type commands in and words would come up and there would usually be a graphic. So that's why I was saying text based games. I was thinking yesterday, and I wouldn't be surprised if at some stage, they give amateur dramatics a try. And/or possibly dancing lessons. Perhaps with a tape, at home. (I was watching Goodnight Sweetheart and that's what two of the main characters were doing, learning to dance by watching a video).

hahaha! I remember a game on the Amstrad I think it was called 'clock' or something... and I just remember this big pixelly clock on the screen that went round whilst you had to do something else. Bit vague on it tho.
Shooting? I'm not a fan of shooting myself, but with Gavin's background and his dad being in the army... yeah perhaps Gavin has had a few turns.
OH yeah! Dancing and ameteur dramatics would be good for them... that would be a good storyline cuz you'd have so many possibilities to write about.

^ well, I was already including a little bit of amateur dramatics in my fanfic... friends of theirs rather than them. But... Maybe they were friends from a society that Tim and Gavin hadn't gone into that year for whatever reason. I can also imagine them making home movies. And no, I don't mean *cough* 'home movies'. I mean just stuffing around geekily making movies with a plot and stuff.

Hi new member here. When someone mentioned that Gavin and Tim might go hunting, it reminded me of an episode when there was a pigeon in the gymnasium. Gavin says that they a guy who trains hawks and falcons and would do anything for Tim. So maybe they go hawking.

I can see those two hawking or whatever its called. I miss Sega and games I can understand. My brother plays things like Halo 3 - Rise of the ultra complicated game controls and i get left behind.

I played once, a team match with my brother, f course instead of explaining the controls he just shot me to bits. Maybe these two play golf?

Gavin and Tim knew some strange people. Was this more for daft plotlines though?

I always thought Gavin would be the one more people would "go" for because he seems so much nicer personality wise to me. Tim comes across, just to me probably, as slightly stand offish
