it's just a pet name though. i don't like nicknames where people add 'y' to the end of your name, but it's still sort of cute.

Yeah, I guess. Just really off pet names right now. But that's a different story.
And I had a favourite Gavin quote, but I can't remember it now. It was from one of the earlier series. Going to have to go and watch it now, because, well, yes.

I like Gavin protesting Brittas giving Colin lines erm...series three...'Laura's leaving'...I sort of get the feeling that Gavin maybe got lines a lot at school And although he sounds a bit whiny, at least Gavin stands up to Brittas...and then brittas sacks everyone. fab. ;D xx

And can i add that I'm loving the adverts I'm getting on the top of this page...'Is your boyfriend cheating on you?" "Inside your boyfriend's mind" etc...although perhaps more apt for Tim's paranoia than Gavin's naughty ways...and then one random one about boat loans Potato-powered lilo, anyone? xx

yes! it was like "but... they do that at *school,* you're giving him *lines* !!" And "i've been chosen on behalf of the staff to say that we think what you're doing to Colin is really unfair!" I just love that scene how everyone hands in their notice haha

He may stand up for people, but by god does he do it in a wimpy way.
Gavin's all like *whine whine whine*
And Tim is all like *Moan moan moan, whiney whiney jealous jealous, one-dimensional, whiney moan*
Yours, Madame Impatience.

Agreed Jenn. Especially in the later series, Tim in particular was just all... I don't think I ever heard him NOT complaining about something.
And Managerial Gavin? Complete, doormat. Sap, sucker, pushover... Brittas may be overbearing, but when Laura wanted something changed, she got it changed. And I'm not speaking from the L/B viewpost here, she put her foot down and it. got. done.
They ruined a perfectly good character, there.

Hmm - I think maybe it had something to do with the fact that Gavin had Tim bearing down on him - perhaps in more ways than one - on such a neverending basis. Gawd - If I were him, I'D be a wimp.
...screw that. No I wouldn't. I'd keep my backbone in tact. And dump the dragger-downer.

Agreed. At least when he was in uniform Gavin had a bit of a laugh, even if he did whinge and worry a bit...but then he donned a shirt and tie and lost his backbone. And yes, Tim became horrible!
I tend to watch the earlier series way more for that reason.
Laura as deputy was a good foil to Brittas, Gavin was a stooge.
Although I did love it when they switched roles and Tim was secretary! (to Carole, iirc?)

The more I think about it now, the more I'm inclined to watching the episodes with Gavin and Tim being repressed in their respective jobs.
Laura was more man with Brittas than Gavin could ever be.
Miaow that woman is hot.
