I don't reckon Gavin was 36... Tim didn't even look 30 and I doubt Gavin was that much older than him.

I don't reckon the writers knew peoples ages, or how much time had passed between episodes let alone series. I tried working things out once (while 'busy' at work) using various markers such as people stating how long the centre had been open and Ben's age. Nothing co-incided. Plus the Christmas special which the original writers wrote places the Christmas they were snowed in as being a different year to the year it opened. It's earlier! No wonder the later writers for 6 & 7 can't sort things out. So maybe Julie got confused when she refered to Gavin being 36.
I can understand why actors play younger characters, but I've never seen them as being qute that young. Maybe we could compromise and split the difference.

Yeah, I think we should just use the writer's complete lack of continuity to our advantage, fic-wise. Seems like everyone can be whatever age we feel like making them. Sometimes it's nice not to have any rigid canon to conform to - we should rejoice!

Yeah I think fic wise any age could be acceptable... after all its just fiction.

and the weather never matches what you work out the seasons to be, by dates and references in later episodes to what month it was supposed to be. I think this is just more proof that the writers, though we love what they produced, had NO idea about continuity. (though you'd think they'd be able to remember the gender of babies).

LOL to be fair though if they said it was summer and it was raining outside... that would not be unusual with brittish weather

Yeah, you would think! I don't know what's up with that at all. And yes, I realise it was rain, but people complaining about coldness, and their clothes, and they said what month it was on the memorial plate when Brittas 'died' in that car factory...
